Większość książek o Angoli opowiada o strasznej, wieloletniej wojnie domowej, jakiej ten kraj doświadczył. Książka ta także jest o angolańskim konflikcie zbrojnym. Można by szybko stwierdzić, że nie wyróżnia się niczym od pozostałej wojennej literatury, ale jednak będzie to pochopne podsumowanie. Jest tu wiele ciekawych fragmentów, gdzie autor oprócz działań wojennych opisuje interesujące fakty z historii kraju oraz ukazuje skomplikowane stosunki społeczne w Angoli. Cytat:
